Reno, NV ( -- The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series is back in Northern Nevada, and it’s going to be better and faster than ever before.  If you’ve never been, well there’s a treat in store for you.

“I tell people to take a little MMA,  a little bit of Supercross and throw them out in big trucks and they’re gonna go out and battle out there,” Lucas Oil Road Racing announcer Dave Arnold said.  “It’s the most incredible, physical racing you’re ever going to see.”

If that’s not enough to rev your engine, fans have something very special to look forward to this weekend.  Corry Weller, a Pro-4 driver, who used to live in Reno for 8 years, is making her return.

“Reno is one of my favorite tracks on our circuit,” Weller said.

Corry is the only female driver in the Pro-4 series, and she says she can’t wait to get behind the wheel and take on one of the fastest tracks in the nation.  “This track is probably the most high-speed, big jump tracks we have on this circuit,” Weller said.  “The front straight here, depending on how high they make their jumps, we can hit up to about 96 miles an hour before we hit the first turn.”

Norm Dianda, owner of the Wild West Motor Sports Park says that was the plan with building this track.  They wanted to make it different and really use Northern Nevada’s natural terrain to their advantage.

“There’s excitement every minute of the whole race, and it’s totally unbelievable,” Dianda said.  “Trucks will roll over and roll them back on their wheels and they take off and continue to race.”

Another thing to mention is that this weekend will be the first night race held at the track.  Something not only the drivers love, but that the fans will enjoy even more.

“Night racing has a totally different feel.  Being the first time in Reno under the lights, I think it’s gonna pump up that excitement factor 100%,” Arnold said.  Weller added, “At night is cool because you can see the exhaust flames and everything gets a little bit more magnified at night.  So bring your kids, your girlfriend, boyfriend or husband. But definitely come out and make one of the races because it is an absolutely amazing experience.”

The Lucas Oil Off Road Races take fans on a wild, 80-mile-per-hour-plus thrill ride over one mile of jumps and hair pin turns at the Wild West Motor Sports Park which is located off I-80 East, Exit 23. Approximately three miles east of Sparks.

In addition to fast and furious off road races, dozens of industry vendors set  up shop at the track featuring everything from racing equipment to clothing and  other merchandise. Pinocchio’s Bar & Grill feeds the masses while snow cones  and other snacks keep kids happy.

The events will go through Saturday May 31. Gates open at 12pm, Qualifying Rounds will take place 12:45pm – 6:30pm with Final Rounds at 7:30pm – 10pm.
