Reno, NV (MyNews4.com) – On Monday, the UNLV Rebels held a “Cannon Painting Party” on campus. The Rebel football team displayed the Fremont Cannon where hundreds of students were there waiting for its arrival.
The senior football players each took turns adding red paint to the largest and most expensive trophy in college football. This was the first time the cannon has been red since 2004 when the Rebels won 48-13 in Las Vegas. It will be taken to UNLV’s paint shop to get professionally painted and transformed to scarlet red.
The Rebels are currently 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the MWC this season. One more victory would make UNLV bowl eligible for the first time since 2000.
