Under the False Claims Act, an action must be filed within the later of the following two time periods: either six years from the date of the violation of the Act or three years after the government knows or should have known about the violation, but in no event longer than 10 years after the violation of the Act. It's important to note that if another citizen files a False Claims Act lawsuit or helps to publicize allegations similar to yours, you may lose the right to file your own qui tam (KEY tam) action if he or she has already done so.
