A gold card generally refers to a premium credit card which is usually gold in color. These premium credit cards offer the advantages of higher credit limits and extra services, such as purchase insurance and airplane mileage bonuses. To qualify for a gold card, you usually need an excellent credit history and must meet a minimum income requirement. Before applying for a gold card, compare its interest rate and service fee with any card you presently own. While gold cards are often advertised as more prestigious, many have higher yearly fees and interest rates than regular cards. The best card for you should offer a competitive interest rate, services you find useful, and reasonable fees. For more information about gold cards, contact a financial institution or your present credit card company.
