Riders are extra types of insurance which are added to your existing coverage. You can add stolen radio coverage, medical coverage, accidental death coverage, weekly disability or even coverage for driving rental cars. Acquiring good basic coverage should be your first priority and then you should find out how riders could be useful to you. Some riders may already be covered in your existing insurance, such as auto insurance, property owner's insurance, health insurance, disability insurance, or life insurance. It's important to be adequately covered, but not to over-insure your self. Your insurance agent can tell you what insurance is best for you, and what riders you might need.
