Depending on your family's pool plans and interests, a sport or play pool may be just the pool design to meet your needs. Make sure the pool design will be able to adapt to your family's future interests and activities, designs for pools vary greatly with the intended use of the pool. Pools designed with lap swimming in mind are usually 40 feet long and at least three-and-a-half-feet deep. Pools with large recreational water areas (rectangular and kidney shapes for example) are a popular option. Zero-depth pools can provide beach atmosphere with walk-in convenience and added safety features. Keep in mind that if you plan to use your pool for diving, the pool must be deeper. However, pools greater than six feet deep are declining in popularity due to the increased safety risks and costs. Investigate the building standards and safety codes in your area if you plan to dive. Because pools can be designed in nearly any shape and from several durable materials for long-lasting results, your pool contractor can assist you in developing a pool you'll enjoy for many years.
