RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- The Nevada Humane Society is pairing art and animal lovers during the month of Artown with several fun events as part of the four-legged celebration, PETown. The annual event kicks off with a special adoption promotion where you can adopt your very own Dog Vinci, Cattisse, or Petcasso at a great price. Adult cats are $10, adult dogs are $50 and kittens are just $60. All dogs, cats, and kittens are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being adopted. These services would normally cost over $240.

Meanwhile, Nevada Humane Society is hosting two official Artown events for the 5th year; the Pawspective Art Show on July 12 and Creative Kids for Critters on July 26, both at the Nevada Humane Society shelter.

The Pawspective Art Show will be celebrating local artists, animals, and nature on Saturday, July 12 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature a large selection of works featuring a wide variety of animal subjects, artistic styles, and mediums. A portion of the proceeds from the art sold will benefit homeless pets. The event will also feature live music and refreshments. Both wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. The exhibit will be at Nevada Humane Society’s adoption center and admission is free for all ages.

The Creative Kids for Critters event invites family to Nevada Humane Society where kids can sketch their favorite shelter pet for a chance to win cool prizes, learn animal origami, or get creative with other animal-themed arts and crafts. In honor of Artown, resident cats, kittens and dogs will put their best paws forward and make some unique art too! Come watch these “Petcassos” in action from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. Admission is free for all ages.

In addition, though not part of the Artown festivities, Picasso and Wine is hosting the inaugural Paint Your Pet fundraiser on Saturday, July 26. Guests are encouraged to send in a photo of their pet and artists will create a template for them to paint during the class. Tickets are $75 and a portion of the proceeds benefits homeless pets.
