SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a tour bus driver died after running into a utility truck on a Utah interstate.

Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson says the accident took place at about 5:39 p.m. on Monday on Interstate 80, about 34 miles from the Nevada state line.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that both the truck and the bus were traveling east when the truck slowed to turn into a median turnaround drive.

The bus then collided with the truck, which was carrying a drilling device. Johnson says the device "impacted where the bus driver was sitting."

The driver died at the scene. Johnson says one passenger was critically injured and flown to a hospital. Other passengers had minor injuries.

Troopers did not know where the tour bus was heading, or where its journey had begun.
