1 dead after shooting on Purdue Drive in Reno

RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Reno Police Department responded to the 1800 block of Purdue on multiple reports of gunshots being fired July 18 at about 9:50 p.m.

Officers arrived on scene and noted that bullets had traveled through several windows at the apartment complex, according to a press release sent by PIO Tim Broadway. Officials immediately checked on the occupants of the apartments and located a 23-year-old male inside of one of the apartments suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers initiated life saving measures while awaiting REMSA, who also provided medical aid, however the subject was declared deceased at the scene. Also inside the residence was the victim's infant child, who was fortunately not injured. The 23-year-old father was identified as Reno resident Anthony Cueva. The initial investigation indicates that Mr. Cueva was an innocent victim in this shooting.

It was reported that several young males wearing hoodies were seen running from the scene after the incident and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

UPDATE 11:50PM -- Reno police tell News 4 that one man is dead after a shooting on Purdue Drive in Reno.

Officers say around 9:50pm on Friday, July 18, 2014 they responded to a call of shots fired. When officers arrived on scene they found a man dead inside an apartment with gun shots through the front window. There was a young child in the apartment at the time of the shooting, the child was not injured and was taken off scene by Child Protective Services.

Officers say details are limited at this time as they are trying to gather witness statements. Lt. Scott Dugan with the Reno Police Department says it is not clear whether or not this shooting is gang related, however the Gang Unit was on scene to assist in the investigation.
