CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — Alameda County sheriff's detectives are conducting a criminal investigation into a nursing home that closed Thursday and left behind 14 sick and elderly patients.

Paramedics called to the Valley Manor Residential Care center in Castro Valley found a notice on the door from the state Department of Social Services ordering the site to be closed. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that paramedics also found bedridden patients attended by a handful of staff members who stayed to help them, despite not being paid.

Sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson said the staff members who stayed included a cook, janitor and a single caretaker who felt badly for the patients.

Nelson said investigators are trying to determine whether the state follows up after closing a facility.

The patients were transported to other homes.

Google is paying 80$ per hour! Just work for few hours & spend more time with friends and family. Yesterday I bought a top of the range Lancia after having made $9458 this month. Its the most-financialy rewarding I've had. It sounds unbelievable but you wont forgive yourself if you don’t check it out Pow6.com
