2 men arrested for car repair scam

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Reno Police arrested two men for attempting to scam woman under the guise of car repair.

The incident happened yesterday around 5:30pm in the area of McCarran and Smithridge. RPD says the men were in the midst of scamming a woman into paying for repairs to her vehicle which consisted of duct tape and black paint. She was expected to pay in excess of $100.00.

One of the men turned out to be wanted out of Santa Clara County, California on a fraud warrant with a bail of $250,000.00. Theo ther was local resident Tommy John (aka Tom Lee), 41.

The Reno Police Department would like to warn residents that scams like these are common, and that reputable car repair specialists do not contact people in parking lots at random. If you suspect you are the target of such a scam, please call 334-2115.
