Fernley, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Thousands of Americans laid wreaths on veteran's grave sites across the nation today, including hundreds of northern Nevadans.

In 2007, the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley began participating in the annual Wreaths Across America ceremony. During the first year 28 wreaths were laid on veteran's grave sites. Six years later on December 14, 2013, 3,690 wreaths were laid to honor and pay tribute to our fallen heroes.

For every two wreaths purchased from the Northern Nevada Veterans Coalition, the Worchester Wreath Company donates one wreath.

If you would like to buy a wreath for next year's ceremony visit: www.supportnnvc.org

For more information about the nationwide effort visit: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org.

The goal of the ceremony is to remember, honor and teach about the service and  sacrifices of our veterans, active military and their families.
