SPARKS, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Sparks Police Department responded to a home invasion that they believe was a targeted attack.
Officers of the Sparks Police Department were called to a residence on Eric Ave. on April 12, 2014 at 05:33 a.m. Upon arrival, officers learned that numerous suspects forced entry into the residence. According to the Sparks Police Department, the suspects demanded specific items from the homeowners and then ransacked the residence looking for these items.
At some point during the robbery, the 70-year-old male victim (who is a military veteran of the Vietnam War), struggled over a weapon with one of the suspects. During the struggle the victim was shot. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police officials do not believe that the case is a random act, and evidence suggests the location was intentionally targeted. No other details have been released at this time, and police say suspects are still at large. Witnesses or residents with any information are being asked to call the Sparks Police Department or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.
