RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- A 9-year old boy is a humble hero after he jumped into action near South Lake Tahoe to save his dad.

Without this young man's bravery, first responders might not have found his dad after Bode Beirdneau's father, John Taylor, was trapped under the weight of his snowmobile.

"I jumped off my snowmobile and tried to dig him out. I dug him out as fast as I could but my fingers got numb," Beirdneau said.

The father and son were in the back country without food or water when this incident occurred.

"I was pretty nervous and it was just a lot of pressure on me i didn't know where to go and it was really hard," Beirdneau said.

Eventually Beirdneau flagged down a tour group that radioed for help. Helicopters airlifted John Taylor to the hospital where doctors performed emergency surgery on his broken leg.
