AAA: Nevada gas prices skyrocket

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & -- AAA says the conversion to summer-blend gasoline, nationwide refinery issues, and a rise in crude oil prices have sent Nevada's gas prices soaring.

The average price in Nevada for regular unleaded gasoline is $3.54 a gallon, an increase of 38 cents from the last AAA gas price release of January 8, 2012. Last month the average price in Nevada was $3.16 a gallon.

The highest gas price of the Nevada metro areas tracked by AAA is in Sparks. The average price in Sparks is $3.74 a gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Reno takes the second prize at $3.72. North Las Vegas have the Silver State’s lowest pump price found in metro areas tracked by AAA. Drivers in North Las Vegas are paying an average price of $3.43. The highest price of gasoline in the nation’s metro areas is in Hilo, Hawaii, at $4.26 per gallon.

Today’s national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.60. This price is seven cents more expensive than one week ago, 28 cents more than one month ago and eight cents more than the average price one year ago.

It is not just oil corporations at fault... it is thanks to EPA and Air Quality that forces these blends....

This is absolutely ridiculous and outrageous in the year 2013. That these oil companies can keep us all trapped under this see-sawing summer blend BS excuse to keep swinging prices. They have not figured out a fair way to streamline storage? Never learned to average expenses? I'm not against capitalism but NORTHERN NEVADA IS ALREADY SUFFERING ECONOMICALLY and .50 cent gas hikes in less than 3 weeks in TOTAL and complete BS and WE ALL KNOW IT.
