Almost 200 citations given out during local traffic campaign

RENO/SPARKS, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- From April 1st to April 22nd, the Sparks Police Department, Reno Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff's Office, and Nevada Highway Patrol joined forces to enforce traffic laws in and around intersections throughout the region.

During the three week period, Sparks Officers say they made 246 stops which resulting in 194 citations. Of those citations, 59 were for cell phone use, 37 were red light violations, 22 were for speeding, and 21 were for no insurance.

The remainder of the citations were for various violations including drivers license/registration violations, failing to yield the right of way, and pedestrian violations.

Adults over the age of 20 were the majority of recipients.
