RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Many residents have been wondering what is currently being built in Lemmon Valley off North Virginia Street.

News 4 learned Friday it is a new warehouse for Amazon. Their current distribution center in Fernley will move to the new location in Reno.

The new warehouse is located at 8000 North Virginia Street in Lemmon Valley. According to the project's website, it’s called the LogistiCenter 395. It’s a 91-acre, three-building, industrial park.

Dermody Properties broke ground on the first building in March. Once completed, the industrial park will be 1.2 million square feet.

Amazon Spokesperson Ashley Robinson emailed News 4 a statement Friday saying:

"Amazon remains committed to its fulfillment center employees in Northern Nevada. All Amazon employees will be offered the chance to work in our new fulfillment center in nearby Reno. We are excited for the investment we're making in this new building to fulfill customer orders."

Amazon said they are not able to comment when the new warehouse will open. However, the property website said estimated completion is summer 2014.

I work at the Fernley building and live in Reno. I am very excited to have this building open, as I will no longer have to drive I-80 to and from work. It's a very dangerous drive in any weather. And as for my Fernley coworkers, they all have the opportunity to transfer to other facilities anywhere they want.

@tiki - you do understand that, presently, people commute from Reno to Fernley in order to work at Amazon, right? Its the same distance. I am betting more Reno people work there than Fernley residents.

Amazon employees will be offered to work there... really? I'm sure all those Fernley residents would just love to commute 90+ miles RT each day!! And gas is so affordable, too... NOT!!!

I second the request to know if Amazon is getting a break and asking me as a Lemmon valley resident to pick up the tab. Are they paying rack rate, or was a deal cut? As a local new organization, what can you tell us?

And I'll ask the question you guys always leave out,are they paying any local and or property taxes.Every local small business has to and then try and compete with these guys. This is the real reason the city and county have to keep slashing budgets.
