PARAMOUNT, Calif. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a small group of protesters at a Black Friday demonstration outside a Walmart store in southeast Los Angeles County.

Elizabeth Brennan of Warehouse Workers United says nine people, including three Walmart employees, were arrested shortly after noon Friday for blocking the street outside the store in Paramount.

TV news helicopters have shown sheriff's deputies leading handcuffed people to booking vans. The arrests appear peaceful.

Several hundred people are taking part in the planned demonstration against the giant retailer on a range of labor complaints.

It's one of several protests being held around the nation on one of the year's busiest shopping days.
