From the Ask Joe File an update tonight to a recent question about a local eyesore.
Dan and Carol Totten wrote in a while back asking what is going to be done about the old Jeremiah's Steakhouse at  Plumb Lane and Kietze. They say it is an eyesore !

Well Dan and Carol, how's this for an answer ?
Alex Woodley the city's code enforcement manager sent me a video today of crews demolishing the building.   It had been empty for months and the chain link fence that had been put up may have secured the building but it definitely had become an eyesore.
Woodley says the demolition got fast tracked after we brought it to the city's attention recently.  They checked it out and found a number of code violations.
No word on the future plans for the site but the city says the owner of the property does own several restaurants in town.   In another day or so the lot will be clear for any future development.

What's interesting is Jeremiah's had a steakhouse in Huntington Beach on Warner just a quarter mile west of Magnolia that matched this one-and it was near a Carrow's too-there was also a Jeremiah's in Las Vegas right next to the airport that also had a Carrow's nearby...Did some googling and it turned out that Carrow's had some kind of a syngergy marketing deal to have a Jeremiah's near a few of it's restaurants...The location in HB matched the Reno location, but never did too well..The Jeremiah's in HB It was marketed as a late night disco "hot spot" in the late 1970's and 1980's...

Not all steakhouse fare-used to go there for Money Night Football. Besides Bass Ale on tap, they had lots of good quality veggies/bread/dip; this being Reno, nobody ate any and I could "pig" out...
