One of our viewers on our website asked if the city of reno has an insurance policy that will cover the settlement with Reno deputy police chief Dave Evans ?
I checked with Jack Campbell, the deputy city attorney about this. Campbell says there is no insurance policy that covers the payout. The money, $330,000 that will paid to Dave Evans comes out of the general fund and money that was already budgeted for his salary.
Keep in mind on top of that settlement the city is paying out more than $100,000 in back pay for sick time and vacation time that evans earned and is now cashing out. So the total payout is closer to $450,000.
City officials say they did not include that extra $100,000 in the settlement because that's money Evans had already earned during his service with the Reno Police Department.
