STOREY COUNTY, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- It's a case that has added to an already heated campaign for sheriff in Storey County, and has even led to accusations of a cover-up.
Virginia City resident Judy Black fell down some stairs in her house on Combination Road and died on April 3.
Sheriff Gerald Antinoro said all indications point to an accidental death, but sources within the Sheriff's Office tell News 4 there were some suspicious signs that were overlooked. Some of those signs include blood found upstairs that was never collected as evidence. News 4 has also been told the extent of Black's injuries raised questions among those at the scene.
News 4 has learned the Sheriff met with the Washoe County coroner last week to discuss the case, but nothing official has been released. Sheriff Antinoro confirmed that meeting took place, but declined to comment other than to say he and the coroner exchanged some notes on the case.
Antinoro said the autopsy results could be announced any day now.
