PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) — Officials say a 3-year-old boy was killed climbing out of a vehicle as it rolled with no driver down a driveway, and a man was injured in the rural community of Pahrump.

The Nye County sheriff's officials say the driver got out of the car before it began rolling backward about noon Thursday at a home on West Blosser Ranch Road.

KLAS-TV reports that another adult received back and leg injuries trying to get into the car to stop it. He was treated at Desert View Hospital in Pahrump.

The child got out of the car and was fatally injured. He was flown by medical helicopter to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, where he died.

The names of the injured man and the child weren't immediately made public.
