RENO, Nev. (KSNV, MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Bundy family is offended by Senator Reid's comment that categorized them as "domestic terrorists."
John Treanor from KSNV spoke to the Bundy family who believes Reid's comment may have been a scare tactic.
"Who are the terrorists here? Who had the guns? We are just a little ranching family trying to protect whats ours," said Carol Bundy, in reaction to Reid comment.
This accusation was made in public less than a week after the family and their supporters were face to face, barrel to barrel, with federal agents. "I think Harry Reid would like to paint us as a terrorist family, but I think our actions speak for themselves," she said.
Life has changed for Carol Bundy, Treanor said. The grandmother and rancher is now surrounded by armed security. Her property is patrolled by military trained militia supporters and her afternoons are now spent deflecting accusations by a senate majority leader.
When asked if it has all spiraled out of control, Bundy simply says she's at peace. In fact, peace is the first thing Bundy will talk about, Treanor said. She doesn't just claim to want a non-violent end, she claims her supporters, in large part, don't carry weapons.
The militia, the rifles and the people telling cameras they were willing to die were just a small minority, Bundy said.
And those who did have guns, she said, were there to protect her family from an out of control federal government and from people who "have no authority."
