SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Just in time for the start of boating season, the Tahoe Keys Marina is being investigated by CAL-OSHA. The South Lake Tahoe business could be using equipment banned by California law.

CAL-OSHA protects workers from safety and health hazards in the workplace. The latest target of the California agency is the Tahoe Keys Marina.

The Lake Tahoe News reports CAL-OSHA is looking into claims the marina is using equipment employees are not fully trained on. Also, the report says regular machinery inspections are not happening at the site, and out-of-date equipment is being used. They also report that CAL-OSHA is looking into marina service manuals to check inspection and maintenance dates to equipment.

CAL-OSHA's investigation is non-accidental, meaning it started from an unplanned inspection. It began April 17, and CAL-OSHA officials said the investigation could last six months, but may only take four. The agency said citiations will be issued afterward, if necessary.

Marina General Manager Robert Spinnato did not return calls from News 4 on Monday.

CAL-OSHA has not installed an order to preserve on the marina, so boats can still be launched during this investigation. The nearby Fresh Ketch restaurant at the marina will also remain open during the investigation.
