LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A mother who drove her teenage son and his friends to a Long Beach park to kill a 13-year-old gang rival has been convicted of murder in her third trial.

The Long Beach Press-Telegram reports a jury found 36-year-old Eva Daley guilty of first-degree murder on Friday.

The mother of three was initially convicted of second-degree murder for the June 2007 stabbing death of Jose Cano.

Cano was a bitter rival of Daley's 14-year-old son and prosecutors say she wanted revenge because Cano allegedly stabbed her son earlier.

Daley's 2008 conviction was overturned two years later by an appellate court that ruled jurors got what justices called "impermissibly ambiguous" instructions.

A mistrial was declared last month in a second trial because of a jury deadlock.
