SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of a California state prison inmate locked up in Oklahoma.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says the death of 33-year-old Todd Bush was ruled a homicide following an autopsy by the Oklahoma medical examiner's office this week.

Bush was found unresponsive in his cell at the private North Fork Correctional Facility in March and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Corrections officials say Bush's cellmate, also a California state prison inmate, has been placed in segregated housing pending an investigation.

Bush was serving a 15-year sentence for evading a police officer.

Bush was sent to an out-of-state facility under California's plan to relieve prison overcrowding. North Fork, which opened in 1998, houses about 2,400 inmates

15 years for evading a police officer seems excessive. Why was Bush being housed with another CA. inmate? Known enemies in CA. maybe? Mistake or planned? Cops sure don't like it when you evade them. Since it's a for profit prison, AKA: privately run, it's probably a mistake because they only pay the employees minimum wage. Doesn't make them exactly motivated to do a great job and leads to much corruption(some guard paid to turn their back?). Bush's sentence was for 15 years not the death sentence which is what he got with the states interstate compact agreement.
