Child killed by drunk driver

FERNLEY, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- A five-year-old girl is dead after being hit by a drunk driver Thursday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., the victim was hit in the 200-block of Seventh Street. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 53-year-old Patricia Anderson was arrested for DUI with Death and is being held on $40,000 bail.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is handling the death investigation of the child and the arrest of the driver. The Nevada Highway Patrol is handling the accident investigation.

Would have to agree but when you have DUI it's an accident. Unless you can show it was premeditated. A human life should be worth more but it's based on the assets one has and should be set at one amount like 1 million just to start and go as high as possible for such a heinous crime.

The bail should also be more than the $40,000 that was set.
