FALLON, Nev. (AP) — A 48-year-old inmate at the Churchill County Jail who was a person of interest in a homicide investigation has been found dead hanging in his cell.

Sheriff Ben Trotter says deputies found Billey Standberry of Fallon hanging from the bars of his cell at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. He told the Nevada Appeal the cause of death is unknown pending an autopsy.

Standberry was being held on four felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon. Washoe County sheriff's deputies also identified him as a person of interest in the possible murder of his ex-roommate, 47-year-old Ryan Petty. Petty's body was found in the backyard of his Spanish Springs home on March 12.

Washoe County deputies interviewed Standberry at the jail in Gardnerville March 13 but hadn't filed any charges.

The guy was dirty and thank you, you just saved the taxpayers of Washoe County a lot of ca$h for doing yourself in your cell. Now if all high profile dirt bags would do this to themselves, our justice system would be stellar.
