RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- An undercover operation conducted by Reno Police found many people in violation of basic pedestrian laws.

According Sergeant Joe Robinson on Saturday March 8th, the Reno Police Department Traffic Division conducted an undercover crosswalk sting targeting drivers who fail to yield the right of way to pedestrians in a crosswalk. The Reno Police Department was awarded a Pedestrian Safety Grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety which funded today’s operation.

The operation was conducted in Downtown and Midtown Reno. During the operation officers issued 73 citations. The majority of those citations were issued for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and for cell phone use while driving.

The Reno Police Department would like to remind everyone that as the weather gets warmer there will be an increase in pedestrian traffic. Please be aware of pedestrians and allow them to cross the street safely.

Start working at home with Google! Just work for few hours and have more time with friends and family. I earn up to $500 per week. It's a great work at home opportunity. I can't believe how easy it was once I tried it out. Linked here Pow6.com

I feel pedestrians have a duty to look for moving traffic BEFORE stepping off the curb. Most of the time they just step off without looking, assuming drivers are always watching out for them. How foolish they are to expect that a stranger in a six thousand pound vehicle has their safety in mind.

How about pedestrians who intentionally (or not) stroll across with a direct STOP sign. Why do we even have pedestrian lights when they always have the right of way(in a crosswalk)!?BTW,as a pedestrian to me,the intersection is THE most dangerous place to cross.Cars going at least 8 different directions.a physical median,i can look 1 direction,to the middle, look 1 other direction, and ill still run even with no traffic.I call it WTL or RTL (walk to live or rideTL.It means when i am walking or on my bike EVERYTHING has the right of way over me!Empowering pedestrians or bike riders with the (right of way)although well meant i think a foolish thing to.But of course the statistics will just reflect an increase in vehicle/ped. accidents which of course will be blamed on drivers.I ride my bike on the side walk and yield to any and every pedestrian.I spose at some point ill be ticketed, but staying alive is more important to me

How about ticketing jaywalkers, especially those who walk out in front of a car at night in dark clothing? I've seen a lot of that.
