RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The Reno City Council is scheduled to vote Wednesday on whether to approve a proposed $330,000 settlement with Deputy Police Chief Dave Evans.

Evans has been on paid administrative leave for more than a year after being caught allegedly interfering with an internal affairs investigation.

Paladin; I think you're right. Seems to me his settlement amount is a little high. I'm sure every Cop,at one time ir another, violates someone else's rights to a more extreme degree than that, but THEY don't get a $300K "apology".

To be fair...this article doesn't give enough information for anyone to make a rational decision one way or the other.

They should have been able to conduct an internal investigation within a year. If he violated department policy, he should be punished at the level of the infraction: reprimand, suspension, demotion or termination. If he was not in violation, he should be returned to duty. I think the settlement is over his rights to privacy being violated by another officer recording his conversation without his knowledge or consent.
