Reno, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Governor Sandoval declares February 28, 2014 David Wise Day in Nevada as the community welcomes home the Olympic gold medalist.

23 year old free skier, David Wise is home after making history at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. Wise took the gold in the
first ever Olympic half pipe skiing event. Now that he’s back in his hometown of Reno, he’s making history with his very own holiday in the Silver State.

Governor Brian Sandoval has declared February 28th David Wise Day in Nevada. Wise, who is described as humble, couldn’t believe
the honor, “First and foremost, I think I’ve been entirely oversold here,” says Wise.

While many of us recognize him for his achievement, his wife says there is much more to David Wise than an Olympic gold medal, “He’s a loyal husband, he’s an amazing dad… and he’s a good person,” says his wife, Alexandra Wise.
