RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Nevada community colleges may be removed from the umbrella of "higher education."
On Tuesday, lawmakers discussed moving state community colleges to an extension of Nevada's K-12 system. Also discussed was how courses can best adapt to the surrounding business communities of both Northern and Southern Nevada.
Truckee Meadows Community College officials say curriculum is updated every semester to best reflect how Reno-area companies operate business. "There's always room for improvement," Workforce Development Director Amy Williams said. "We are always trying to get better, make sure that we are making our students as successful as can be, making sure we are better meeting the business needs, we meet with businesses every single week to make sure that we are meeting their needs directly."
All TMCC degree and certificate programs are overseen by local business leaders serving as school board members.
