Historically the mend and women's U.S.B.C. Open tournaments do not run in the same city. Therefore the need to use the convention center for the Women's Tournament. What you may not be aware of is that these tournaments bring in over a million dollars in revenues for the host cities and also that most sites will hire local people to help with the tournament. quite frankly If it was not for these type or tournaments I would not be in the bowling industry today.

You didnt read the article correctly. They are using 1.5 million dollars worth of equipment. The equipment will be packed up and re-used someplace else after the tournament is done. The reason they are not using the bowling stadium is due to the fact that the USBC Open Championships are going on at the same time. You should be happy to have two national tournaments going on at the same time. That will bring more revenue to your city/area. I guess you are the only one that sees this as a problem Reno Native.

Let me get this straight, We don't have money for our children's education and the school board is asking another tax to support our schools; but we can spend $1.5 million dollars to build special bowling lanes for a women's tournament? Why aren't they using the huge bowling stadium that was built for these tournaments? Am I the only one who sees a problem with this??? Simply Amazing!
