Reno, NV (MyNews4.com) -- Tonight was the beginning of the CrossFit Games, and the University of Nevada participated in it.
It's called the "CrossFit Open" and each week a new workout is released, where people from all over the world compete and record their score to attempt to make it to the CrossFit Games.
Friday night they had to perform burpees and snatches for time: (17 minute cap...get as far as you can)
40 Burpees
30 Snatches
30 Burpees
30 Snatches
20 Burpees
30 Snatches
10 Burpees
*No weight increase.
Nevada became the first university to affiliate with CrossFit in 2009, and that's when they started competing.
They run CrossFit group fitness which is part of the overall rec program at the university, but the students have really taken it upon themselves to compete in local and regional competitions.
