RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Reno resident David Wise won the first-ever Olympic gold in the Ski Halfpipe event on Tuesday. Across the city, family, friends, and students watched his success live and on tape delay.

A graduate of Wooster High, the same school gathered in the gym to watch the alum live from the Rosa Khutor halfpipe. Later, as the event was shown on NBC affiliates across the country, family and friends gathered at Bully's on Robb Drive to watch the telecast on News 4. Wise made sure to acknowledge the support from his hometown, as well.

Wise's triumph also earned him an interview with the Today Show crew on Wednesday.
