RENO, Nev. (AP) — Getchell Library at the University of Nevada, Reno is coming down.
Two large excavators will begin tearing down the building Thursday. The library, opened in 1962, has been closed since 2008 when the modern, Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center was completed.
UNR officials say the contents of a time capsule placed in the cornerstone of Getchell Library are on display at the knowledge center.
Demolition is expected to take about a month.
UNR plans to build a new student achievement center at the site.
