CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - This Memorial Day Weekend, one of Northern Nevada’s oldest veterans was allegedly robbed and held at gun point in his Carson City home.

World War II and Air Force veteran, Jim Sorentino lives alone with a caretaker. He’s 101-years-old, and he says in his life time, he’s never experienced anything like this home invasion.

He says it was before 5 a.m. Sunday when two men kicked in a rear-garage door and forced their way into Sorentino’s home in a gated community on Canvasback Drive.

They held him and his female caretaker at gun point.

"The older one, the bigger one, carried a gun. Kept waving it around,” says Sorentino.

He says he's never seen anyone so scared. Sorentino says the two men invaded the home, demanding cash.

"They kept asking for the safe. Of course, I don't have any safe,” says Sorentino.

Instead, the suspects ransacked the home and Sorentino says they made out with a wristwatch, a pocket knife and a wallet he uses for identification.

"The fold into that wallet was some money,” he says. “About 30 dollars."

The Carson City Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the case and is looking for two suspects.

"They're either black or Hispanic males; adult males,” says Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. “ One 5’ 7’’ the other 5’ 4’’

He says, “Wearing, what you might want to say, dark clothing, nut not wholly distinguishable. "

Sheriff Furlong says there's suggestion the robbery was targeted but investigators have not determined how or why.

Sorentino believes he was an easy target and says he's saddened that anyone would try to take advantage of him.

No one was physically injured during the home invasion.

Deputies are looking for two men described as Hispanic or black. One man is about 5-feet-7-inches tall and was last seen wearing a blue
L.A. Dodgers jersey with the number 8 on the front and the name Olveras on the back.

The other man is about 5-feet-3-inches tall, was wearing a denim jacket, black pants and motorcycle gloves and had a .45 caliber handgun.

The men may have left the scene in a blue or silver sedan.

Anyone with information about the crime or the suspects should call the Carson City Sheriff’s Office at (775) 887-2013.

This is despicable! Yes, these two should be put away for decades. It should have a crimes against the elderly enhancement. However, it is not kidnapping, it is false imprisonment. Kidnapping involves the transportation of a subject against their will from one location to another. Here it is home invasion and false imprisonment, among other charges.

That is just LAME. Evidently these guys have no patriotism or they're non-American. #1 picking on a Veteran. #2 picking on an old person. That's almost treason. Hope they're put away for a long time because that's kidnapping too.
