CARSON CITY, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, a 53-year-old man was arrested Thursday in the 100-block of East Long Street after he allegedly attempted to burglarize two cars in the parking lot of the Nevada Parole and Probation office.
Robert Allen Stewart (pictured) was arrested on two felony charges of attempted vehicle burglary and a gross misdemeanor charge of possession of burglary tools. He's being held on $12,500 bail.
Two officers with the division say they saw Stewart trying to pick the lock of one of the officer's work cars in the rear parking lot. As Stewart attempted to do so, he was confronted by Parole and Probation officers Clint Hall and Kim Vine who detained him, the arrest report states.
Officer Vine located a "pick" in Stewart's right rear pants pocket. According to officer Hall, Stewart also attempted to use the pick on officer Vine's personal vehicle parked next to the state work vehicle.
Once contacted, a Carson City deputy gave Stewart his rights and questioned him about the alleged attempted vehicle burglary. Stewart, who was intoxicated, said he was "just looking for things" but would not elaborate, the arrest report states. He was booked on two felony counts of attempted auto burglary and possession of burglary tools.
