(KRNV & MyNews4.com) Pahrump - The Department of Energy has held the second meeting about bringing nuclear waste to Nevada from Tennessee. Storing is not the only issue residents are worried about, transportation, is also something on Pahrump residents’ minds as a shipment could come as early as next year.

U.S. Energy Department officials say Nevada doesn't have the authority to prevent shipments of uranium waste from Oak Ridge, Tenn., to the Nevada National Security Site north of Las Vegas. Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval says it's premature to say whether the state will sue to block the shipments. Project administrators say shipments could begin in January.

The geological issues with the area of Yucca mt. (the fault lines and ground water levels) The possibilty of ground water and soil contamination is a huge issue. This waste shuold be stored where it was created.

This waste should be stored where it was made. The fault lines that run under yucca mt. and the ground water levels are a big issue as to this waste being stored there. So ground water contamination and soil contamination are of concern. Store it in your own back yard, or store it at the PaloVerde power plant in Arizona.

nice objectivity (Not!)/Bias in using 'Dump' instead of "store" or "reposit". I guess there wasn't any intelligent Comment to read, anyway. goofy tee Party will Protest this, but also cry if they have to pay for non-nuclear electricity. can U say Dirty Coal? Can we move beyond "battle boring"?

My choice of sites to dump nuclear, and other, waste is right in the middle of Washington D.C. Washington D.C. also needs a new telephone area code: 666.

So rather than being in Yucca Mountain where it might be somewhat safe it is just going to get dumped into the desert. Thanks Reid! I do not know why Nevada keeps electing this idiot. *sigh*
