RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — A former Mormon bishop has pleaded guilty to two felony sex crimes involving teen girls who attended his Menifee church.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports Todd Edwards entered guilty pleas Wednesday to sexual battery and sexual penetration with a foreign object, as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.

Under the deal, the 49-year-old would receive three years in prison and be ordered to register for life as a sex offender. Sentencing is set for Dec. 11.

Edwards, who was bishop of the Menifee Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was arrested May 28 at his home in Murrieta.

Prosecutors said the victims were 16 and 18 years old at the time of the crimes.

Edwards declined to comment as he left the courtroom alone.

To bubbles: I don't know how people can get through their day without spirituality and a belief in "God". However, religion, just like anything else in life can be twisted into evil. Evil lurks at every corner and in every walk of life. There are evil gang members, evil plumbers, evil salesmen and yes, evil cops and firemen and religious leaders. That is the world we live in. But to answer your question, YES religion is great!
