Sparks, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The City of Sparks and the Washoe County School District held a candle light vigil on October 25, 2103 to honor Master Sergeant Michael Landsberry and all those affected by the Sparks Middle School Shooting.

Tonight's ceremony brought out city and school officials as well as close friends of Michael Landsberry.

Sparks Mayor Geno Martini started the evening off with a direct message to all students, "Sometimes bad things happen and it is up to all of us to be strong and push forward and know that goodness and love will trump these terrible events."

All who spoke, whether they knew Mr. Landsberry or not, acknowledged what a brave man he was. A friend and fellow teacher to Mr. Landsberry shared quotes about heroism and said the quotes brought him some peace.

In the end Washoe Schools Superintendent Pedro Martinez says broken hearts will mend as the community continues to come together.

The headline and article is extremely misleading and doesn't do the event justice. Not only did fellow teachers honor Michael Landsberry, but many residents, students, and parents also attended.
