--UPDATE 1:53PM--

According to Reno Fire, around 12:45 p.m. fire crews were dispatched to a residential structure fire on Mount Shasta Rd. and Stead Blvd. Upon arrival, firefighters began battling the blaze which included three fully engulfed homes.

The homes were abandoned and were not finished, according to Reno Fire. No one was injured during the fire, but fire crews are investigating the cause of the fire and say that there are reports of people leaving the scene at the time of the fire.

As the fire was burning, there were several spot fires in a nearby field as a result of heavy wind. The spot fires and residential fires have been extinguished and fire crews expect to stay on scene for another hour while they mop up and investigate.
