Golden Eagle Fire, east of Sparks, 100% contained

SPARKS, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) 5:00 p.m. – A wildfire that ignited east of Sparks is 100% contained, as of 4:30 p.m. According to a Sierra Front Dispatch report, the Golden Eagle fire was first reported at 11:34 a.m. Sunday. The size of the fire is estimated to be 81 acres.

Crews stopped the forward progress of the fire in a couple of hours. Eighty personnel worked the fire, including three air tankers, two helicopters, four hand crews, and four engines.

The location of the fire, near Golden Eagle Regional Park, is under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Land Management. Truckee Meadows Fire Department, Sparks Fire Department, NDF, Forest Service assisted in the firefighting efforts.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
