WINNEMUCCA, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) --
The man who claims a Humboldt County Sheriff's sergeant illegally seized thousands of dollars from him during a traffic stop has named another defendant in his lawsuit against the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office.
Tan Nguyen has amended his lawsuit to name Humboldt County Chief Deputy District Attorney Kevin Pasquale as a defendant.
Pasquale told News 4 recently that police do have the power to seize someone's money during a traffic stop if they think the money was obtained illegally. Nguyen claims the cash seizure violated his civil rights.
Nguyen's suit alleges a member of the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office illegally seized $50,000 in cash from him during a traffic stop, even though he was not cited for anything.
