RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com, KRNV & AP) — A serious accident earlier this week that sent seven people to the hospital and shut down a major highway in Reno also resulted in a toddler's fatality, according to NHP Trooper Dan Lopez.

The chain-reaction collision involved more than a half-dozen vehicles, including a cement mixer, a Hummer and a motorcycle.

The Nevada Highway Patrol shut down all southbound traffic on U.S. Highway 395 for about four hours beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Golden Valley just north of Reno.
Injuries to the other six people who were taken to the hospital were not considered life-threatening.

Gibson said a preliminary investigation indicates the pileup began when a 2001 Mack cement truck struck the rear of a Chevy passenger vehicle, pushing it forward into the guardrail.
The crash remains under investigation.

Very sad to hear that - I knew there was an injury but I was not expecting it to be a fatality - RIP little one.
