RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A man has been arrested after stabbing victims in multiple locations within a short time frame.
On Sept. 18., 2012 at around 12:40pm, Reno Police responded to St. Vincent’s Dining Hall on the report of a stabbing. While responding, another stabbing was reported on Evans Street just south of 4th Street. While investigating these two crime scenes, officers discovered the same suspect was related to both locations. The suspect was located nearby and detained without incident. The suspect was positively identified as Richard Schmitz by witnesses from both crime scenes. Schmitz had a knife with blood on it in his possession.
One victim from St. Vincent’s was treated and released by REMSA paramedics. The other did not seek immediate medical attention. The victim from Evans Street was transported to Renown Medical Center. All victims’ injuries were not life threatening.
Schmitz was arrested and charged with three counts of Battery with a Deadly Weapon, one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Simple Battery.
