FALLON, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A man has died after a two vehicle crash in Fallon on Nov. 5.
Nevada Highway Patrol says the crash happened at 12:15am on State Route 116 at Churchill County Mile Marker 3 near Mesquite Road in Fallon.
NHP says the preliminary investigation indicates that a black 2007 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling westbound on SR 116, and for an unknown reason, crossed the center line and entered the eastbound travel lane. The car then hit a 1997 tan Chevrolet Suburban head on.
The driver of the 2007 Jetta was a 29-year-old male from Fallon who died from his injuries.
The driver of the Suburban was a 24-year-old female out of Schurz. She sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center via Care Flight. Speed is believed to be a factor in this incident and it is not known at this time if alcohol is involved.
NHP says the road was closed in both directions for approximately five hours. The name of the victim won’t be released until the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office positively confirms the identity and pending notification of next of kin.
