MINERAL COUNTY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- One Argentinian man is dead after a motorcycle crash last night involving a horse on U.S. Highway 6 in Mineral County, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 7:20 pm approximately 43 miles west of Tonopah. NHP says a 29-year-old man from Buenos Aires, Argentina, was riding a blue 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on the two-lane highway with his passenger, who was a 30-year-old female from the same city.
The couple was leading the way as other family members and friends were on a motorcycle trip with a total of four motorcycles traveling together as a group. NHP says a horse was apparently running across the highway and collided with the blue Harley-Davidson and ejected both riders. The male rider died at the scene while the female passenger was transported by ground ambulance and taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
None of the three other motorcyclists collided and were able to stop safely along the shoulder of the highway. The horse was also killed.
