GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) — Police say a man was killed inside a Glendale bakery and five others were injured when a 72-year-old driver smashed into the shop.

Sgt. Tom Lorenz says the 55-year-old man was pinned to the counter of Oledina's Cake Factory at around 1 p.m. Thursday when the woman's car crashed through the front windows.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A pedestrian in the parking lot outside the bakery was grazed by the vehicle and taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

An employee inside the shop suffered bumps and bruises and three others had injuries from broken glass and diving out of the way.

Police say the driver, who wasn't injured, also hit five vehicles in the parking lot before smashing into the store.

An investigation is underway.
