ELKO, Nev -- (KENV) – An Elko woman has died and her boyfriend has been jailed on suspicion of felony drunk driving after an apparent hunting accident in northern Elko County.

Elko County Undersheriff Clair Morris said 46-year-old Kelli Diane Cantrell was killed after being hit by a pickup truck driven by Jason Arnold Frazier, 38, of Elko. The accident happened Wednesday at about 7:30 pm in a remote area near the historic Winecup Ranch, 25 miles north of Wells. According to early reports, the pair was scoping elk and mule deer, both had hunting tags. The sheriff’s office impounded the vehicle, described as a full-size Dodge pickup, as an investigation is continuing.

Frazier is being held in the Elko County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI causing death with bail at $100,000. Authorities say the couple had been living together and both were employed at a local gold mine.

I definitely don't SEEM to be defending this man. I would give my life for this man because I know him personally. You can take your rash generalizations, and swallow hard on them the next time something tragic happens to you

Let me clarify something for all of you that seem to be defending him! If he was drunk when this occurred then it wasn't an accident!!! It is considered a crime! This no different then somebody driving down the road intoxicated and killing somebody!

@ dontknowy, you are absolutely right. Kelli will be sorely missed by many and there is no way that Jason would have ever hurt her intentionally. He is a great man, friend and father. People can say harsh words about him all they want but anyone who knew these two knows how absolutely in love they were. I am heartbroken for all involved. Absolute tragedy!

I didn't know Jason, but I knew Kelli. Our girls became friends in elementary school. I remember when she met Jason. She was so happy to find him, and continued to be happy with him. I'm sure it was an awful accident, and he now has to live with it. That should be punishment enough. Kelli leaves behind two amazing children who may or may not read your comments, please keep them clean and civil. They have a long hard road ahead of them, just the fact that they have lost this amazing woman is only the beginning. RIP Kelli. We will miss you forever.

retired51 That woman was the light is his life and yes sympathy for all of her family we should feel pain for them all. What a horrible loss..... You don't have to have sympathy for him but I'll tell you this much. That man right there has a heart greater than you will ever know a person to have. I know him personally. It was an accident. A horrible accident and no justice system will make him pay for what he has done more than HE will.

guessing that he (Unfortunately) hit her with the truck, not a strictly "hunting" accident. 7:30 would hae been dusk conditions, he being into the winecup a bit...seems that the deputies were upset, and "threw" him into jail. watch yer head!
